About Canute Records
Canute Records was founded in 2026 as a co-operative venture by two artists with an established history of friendship, mutual support and collaboration: Caper Clowns from Denmark and Spygenius from the UK. As a co-operative, Canute Records works differently from regular record labels:

1. There’s no money!
All music released on Canute Records is directly funded by the artist in question, who receives 100% of money from sales, and retains all rights. The label provides identity, coherence, encouragement and practical help with preparing products for release, promotion and distribution – but no budget!

2. ​We don’t sign anyone!
For the time being Canute Records will only be releasing music by Caper Clowns and Spygenius, plus some associated side projects. It is possible that in the future we may release music by other artists that we have an established history of friendship, mutual support and collaboration with – watch this space! But any artist hoping to join Canute Records would need to commit to the work of supporting the other artists on the roster.

CAPER CLOWNS - Danish five-piece, Danish indie pop band make melodic pop-rock, combining 60s influences, 90s indie and a kaleidoscopic mix of hooks, harmonies and playful invention. The band was formed in 2010 and the members are Rick Kingo, Peter Højgaard, Christian Højgaard, Henrik Krogh and Rasmus Almlund.
SPYGENIUS - Canterbury’s Classic British four piece combo delights in catchy pop songs, lyrical wit and elaborate harmonies. Impossible to pigeonhole, Peter Watts, Ruth Rogers, Matt Byrne and Alan Cannings have developed a chemistry in which melodic pop, psychedelia, wit, intricate arrangements and unapologetic eccentricity CAN coexist.
